Nick Jonas – Push

Posted in Lyrics, Music Video, Personal Post, Song Comment tagged , at 10:39 am by LynxLee

While I’m enjoying Nick Jonas’s Jealous track (and the Gospel Version), I started listening to his other songs. I gotta say, I like “Push”. It’s some slow, sentimental, sexy track. There are moments when I get jealous and wanna be the tough guy, but most of the time – I like being comfortably mellow. Perhaps it says a lot about how I changed.

cover326x326You need space, you need time
You take yours and I’ll take mine
Come closer so I can be the one to push
It’s not me, it’s just you
It doesn’t mean shit when it falls through
Come closer so I can be the one to push you
The one to push

[Verse 1:]
Hold me down under the water
You know well that I can’t swim
I’m not trying to be a martyr
Knowing I won’t let you in
Safe and warm inside myself
But you nedd more than someone else

[Chorus:]
You need space, you need time
You take yours and I’ll take mine
Come closer so I can be the one to push
It’s not me, it’s just you
It doesn’t mean shit when it falls through
Come closer so I can be the one to push you
The one to push

[Verse 2:]
Hold me tight enough to kill me
Bite my tongue so I can’t speak
Clip my wings so I can’t fly
Bury me deep but I won’t die
Was it worth it?
Was it worth it?

[Chorus:]
You need space, you need time
You take yours and I’ll take mine
Come closer so I can be the one to push
It’s not me, it’s just you
It doesn’t mean shit when it falls through
Come closer so I can be the one to push you (push you)
The one to push you (push you)

[Bridge:]
Guess I needed you enough not to notice
Guess I wanted you enough to lie
There so many faces, I should’ve know it
But that sure it was a beautiful disguise

[Chorus:]
You need space, you need time
You take yours and I’ll take mine
Come closer so I can be the one to push
It’s not me, it’s just you
It doesn’t mean shit when it falls through
Come closer so I can be the one to push you (push you)
The one to push you (push you)
The one to push you

[Outro:]
In our game with the pass
We may love and we attack
Let me hold you so you can be the one to push back

Ed Sheeran – Afire Love

Posted in Lyrics, Music Video, Personal Post, Song Comment tagged , at 9:40 am by LynxLee

Whilst I simply loved Ed Sheeran’s latest romantic music video “Thinking Out Loud” and his awesome dance moves (+the simply gorgeous dancer he’s dancing with – Behind The Scenes here), I’m obviously a little deeper in thoughts and emotions than that sometimes.

I was attracted to the title “Afire Love” from his latest album and listening to it brings a sense of love that you don’t usually get from romance or the usual one person partner. It’s about love for someone close and very strong – family. Listening to the track whilst driving to work, raising up the volume and keeping aware of the lyrics (and the road) – it’s a great build up of emotions (something that Ed is amazing with).

Towards the end of the track, I’ve gotten goosebumps (good ones) and almost in tears as I’d imagine the emotional struggles and the sense of it all. Listen to it loud (to your comfort) and let me know if you agree. Can’t help thinking about my grandma and grandpa when it comes to this track. Upon posting this up, I thought I’d do a little research to the track and now it’s much clearer who he is singing about.

Warm up your heart and take a good deep listen to this track with eyes closed. Hallelujah

The emotional midtempo piano tune is a dedication to Ed’s grandfather, who battled with Alzheimer’s for 20 years before his death last year. Sheeran reportedly finished writing the track at his grandfather’s funeral.

The personal song takes listeners on a heartwrenching journey as Ed recounts the moment his grandfather succumbed to the disease and no longer recognized his grandson.

maxresdefaultDarling, hold me in your arms the way you did last night
And we’ll lie inside for a little while, here oh
I could look into your eyes until the sun comes up
And we’re wrapped in light, in life, in love
Put your open lips on mine and slowly let them shut
For they’re designed to be together, oh
With your body next to mine our hearts will beat as one
And we’re set alight, we’re afire love

Things were all good yesterday
And then the devil took your memory
And if you fell to your death today
I hope that heaven is your resting place
I heard the doctors put your chest in pain
But then that could’ve been the medicine
And now you’re lying in the bed again
Either way I’ll cry with the rest of themAnd my father told me, son
It’s not his fault he doesn’t know your face
And you’re not the only one
Although my grandma used to say
That he used to sing.

Darling, hold me in your arms the way you did last night
And we’ll lie inside for a little while, here oh
I could look into your eyes until the sun comes up
And we’re wrapped in light, in life, in love
Put your open lips on mine and slowly let them shut
For they’re designed to be together, oh
With your body next to mine our hearts will beat as one
And we’re set alight, we’re afire love

Things were all good yesterday
But then the devil took your breath away
And now we’re left here in the pain
Black suit, black tie, standing in the rain
And now my family is one again
Stapled together with the strangers and a friend
Came to my mind, I should paint it with a pen
Six years old, I remember when

My father told me, son
It’s not his fault he doesn’t know your face
And you’re not the only one
Although my grandma used to say
He used to sing.

To the love we love to love we love [3x]

And my father and all of my family rise from their seats to sing hallelujah
And my mother and all of my family rise from their seats to sing hallelujah
And my brother and all of my family rise from their seats to sing hallelujah
(And all of my brothers and my sisters, yeah)
And my father and all of my family rise from their seats to sing hallelujah

To the love we love to love we love [3x]

Juwita Suwito – Belle of the Ball

Posted in Lyrics, Music Video, Personal Post, Song Comment tagged , , at 11:26 am by LynxLee

I heard this track from litefm for the past few days, and I initially thought of “Barbra Streisand” thinking the title of this song was “Cold December” or “Sweet September”. I even launched Shazam while I was at the wheel (traffic light) but Shazam couldn’t identify the music. It took me some time listening to start realizing the track should be “Belle of the Ball” – which means Beautiful Girl of the Prom (or any other dancing event). Belle is “Beautiful” in French, so yeah – the song stuck in my mind for a while.. especially the gorgeous lyrics.

Funny fact, my wife is born in December (Cold December) and I was born in September (Sweet September). Just ponder through that for a while. Hehe.. my wife is gonna be so angry.. hehe.. Just playing around. I loved Juwita Suwito’s previous track “All This Time” and I’ve gotta say.. she’s getting better everytime.

Innocent Sweet September
Belle of the Ball
You had it all
When did you fall into Cold December?
You’re not the girl that I remember
Belle of the Ball
You could still have it all

In the heart of sleepy town
A reminiscent old battleground
A tempest rages
Thunders roar
Teardrops ricochet off the ground
At the centre of it all
So oblivious in your spoil
Naval-gazing, there you smile
Shadow dancing to wild applauseBeautiful blessed daughter
Innocent Sweet September
Belle of the Ball
You had it all
When did you fall into Cold December?
You’re not the girl that I remember
Belle of the Ball
You could still have it allAren’t you tired of endless lies
Empty promises
Shifty eyes
How do you sleep?
You oathed, you swore
You’ve become the one you so despised

Beautiful blessed daughter
Innocent Sweet September
Belle of the Ball
When did you fall into this blessed curse?
Cold December holds you tight
But you are stronger
Belle of the Ball
You could still have it all

Will you rise from your mighty super?
Only you can break the spell
Don’t let us down
You wear a crown

Beautiful blessed daughter
Innocent Sweet September
Belle of the Ball
You had it all
When did you fall into Cold December?
You’re not the girl that I remember
Belle of the Ball
You could still have it all

Cause you are stronger
You could still have it all
Have it all

Belle of the Ball
