Ed Sheeran – Afire Love
Whilst I simply loved Ed Sheeran’s latest romantic music video “Thinking Out Loud” and his awesome dance moves (+the simply gorgeous dancer he’s dancing with – Behind The Scenes here), I’m obviously a little deeper in thoughts and emotions than that sometimes.
I was attracted to the title “Afire Love” from his latest album and listening to it brings a sense of love that you don’t usually get from romance or the usual one person partner. It’s about love for someone close and very strong – family. Listening to the track whilst driving to work, raising up the volume and keeping aware of the lyrics (and the road) – it’s a great build up of emotions (something that Ed is amazing with).
Towards the end of the track, I’ve gotten goosebumps (good ones) and almost in tears as I’d imagine the emotional struggles and the sense of it all. Listen to it loud (to your comfort) and let me know if you agree. Can’t help thinking about my grandma and grandpa when it comes to this track. Upon posting this up, I thought I’d do a little research to the track and now it’s much clearer who he is singing about.

The emotional midtempo piano tune is a dedication to Ed’s grandfather, who battled with Alzheimer’s for 20 years before his death last year. Sheeran reportedly finished writing the track at his grandfather’s funeral.
The personal song takes listeners on a heartwrenching journey as Ed recounts the moment his grandfather succumbed to the disease and no longer recognized his grandson.

Juwita Suwito – Belle of the Ball
I heard this track from litefm for the past few days, and I initially thought of “Barbra Streisand” thinking the title of this song was “Cold December” or “Sweet September”. I even launched Shazam while I was at the wheel (traffic light) but Shazam couldn’t identify the music. It took me some time listening to start realizing the track should be “Belle of the Ball” – which means Beautiful Girl of the Prom (or any other dancing event). Belle is “Beautiful” in French, so yeah – the song stuck in my mind for a while.. especially the gorgeous lyrics.
Funny fact, my wife is born in December (Cold December) and I was born in September (Sweet September). Just ponder through that for a while. Hehe.. my wife is gonna be so angry.. hehe.. Just playing around. I loved Juwita Suwito’s previous track “All This Time” and I’ve gotta say.. she’s getting better everytime.
