Wicked (Broadway Musical) – For Good

Posted in Lyrics, Music Video, Personal Post, Song Comment tagged , , , at 7:00 pm by LynxLee

A very touching track from Wicked, The Broadway Musical. We’re (my wife and I) probably in the Grand Theater of Marina Bay Sands in Singapore right now and awaiting the curtains to open up. (Yes, I scheduled it to post at 7pm)

=D Enjoy!!

I’ve heard it said
That people come into our lives for a reason
Bringing something we must learn
And we are led
To those who help us most to grow
If we let them
And we help them in return
Well, I don’t know if I believe that’s true
But I know I’m who I am today
Because I knew you:

Like a comet pulled from orbit
As it passes a sun
Like a stream that meets a boulder
Halfway through the wood
Who can say if I’ve been changed for the better?
But because I knew you
I have been changed for good

ELPHABA
I’m limited:
Just look at me – I’m limited
And just look at you –
You can do all I couldn’t do, Glinda
So now it’s up to you
(spoken) For both of us
(sung) Now it’s up to you:

GLINDA
I’ve heard it said
That people come into our lives for a reason
Bringing something we must learn
And we are led
To those who help us most to grow
If we let them
And we help them in return
Well, I don’t know if I believe that’s true
But I know I’m who I am today
Because I knew you:

Like a comet pulled from orbit
As it passes a sun
Like a stream that meets a boulder
Halfway through the wood
Who can say if I’ve been changed for the better?
But because I knew you
I have been changed for good

ELPHABA
It well may be
That we will never meet again
In this lifetime
So let me say before we part
So much of me
Is made of what I learned from you
You’ll be with me
Like a handprint on my heart
And now whatever way our stories end
I know you have re-written mine
By being my friend:
Like a ship blown from its mooring
By a wind off the sea
Like a seed dropped by a skybird
In a distant wood
Who can say if I’ve been changed for the better?
But because I knew you:

GLINDA
Because I knew you:

BOTHI have been changed for good

ELPHABA
And just to clear the air
I ask forgiveness
For the things I’ve done you blame me for

GLINDA
But then, I guess we know
There’s blame to share

BOTH
And none of it seems to matter anymore

GLINDA ELPHABA
Like a comet pulled Like a ship blown
From orbit as it Off it’s mooring
Passes a sun, like By a wind off the
A stream that meets Sea, like a seed
A boulder, half-way Dropped by a
Through the wood Bird in the wood

BOTH
Who can say if I’ve been changed for the better?
I do believe I have been changed for the better?

GLINDA
And because I knew you:
ELPHABA
Because I knew you:

BOTH
Because I knew you:
I have been changed for good.

Idina Menzel – Brave

Posted in Lyrics, Music Video, Personal Post, Song Comment tagged , at 1:02 am by LynxLee

My wife simply loves the Broadway show Wicked (Sample of song here). Idina Menzel did amazing (AMAZING) performance as the Wicked Witch. Her vocals are one of the most distinct lovely sounds in broadway (to us). I’ll be posting one track from Wicked around December.

Wicked will be live in Singapore on December 2011. My wife and I has decided to go watch! (Yay!)

More info here on ShowBizAsia.. You can also buy directly from wickedthemusical.com.sg (which leads to entertainment.marinabaysands.com) where you can choose the seats. But you’ll find that ShowBizAsia has the best seats online. =D

If you love this track, you’re gonna love “I Stand“. I’ve just updated the acoustic version in my blog post. You’ll love it. Check it out. =D

A little advert for Idina Menzel’s YouTube.. =P

Idina Menzel Brave
If this is the moment I stand here on my own
If this is my rite of passage that somehow leads me home
I might be afraid
But it’s my turn to be brave
If this is the last chance before we say goodbye
At least it’s the first day of the rest of my life
I can’t be afraid
Cause it’s my turn to be brave

Don’t know just where I’m going
And tomorrow, it’s a little overwhelming
And the air is cold
And I’m not the same anymore
I’ve been running in your direction
For to long now
I’ve lost my own reflection
And I can’t look down
If you’re not there to catch me when I fall.

If this is the moment I stand here on my own
If this is my rite of passage that somehow leads me home
I might be afraid
But it’s my turn to be brave
If this is the last chance before we say goodbye
At least it’s the first day of the rest of my life
I can’t be afraid
Cause it’s my turn to be brave

All along all I ever wanted, was to be the light
When your life was daunting
But I can’t see mine
When I feel as though you’re pushing me away
Well who’s to blame, are we making the right choices
Cause we can’t be sure if we’re hearing our own voices
As we close the door even though we are so desperate to stay

If this is the moment I stand here on my own
If this is my rite of passage that somehow leads me home
I might be afraid
But it’s my turn to be brave
If this is the last chance before we say goodbye
At least it’s the first day of the rest of my life
I can’t be afraid
Cause it’s my turn to be brave

And I might still cry
And I might still bleed
These thorns in my side
This heart on my sleeve
And lightening may strike
This ground at my feet
And I might still crash
But I still believe

This is the moment I stand here all alone
With everything I have inside, everything I own
I might be afraid
But it’s my turn to be brave
If this is the last time before we say goodbye
At least it’s the first day of the rest of my life
I can’t be afraid
Cause it’s my turn to be brave

Wicked (Broadway Musical) – As Long As You’re Mine

Posted in Lyrics, Music Video, Personal Post, Song Comment tagged , , , , , , at 2:24 pm by LynxLee

Recently my wife and I went to watch “Magical Musical” in Sunway Pyramid twice! Read on the story here. This track was simply romantic and beautiful how Stephen Weller and Stevie Tate-Bauer sang it. Perhaps they could release a track, I don’t mind buying it. Love the vocals for sure. =P

The whole atmosphere of a disco ball above in a dark light while this song was sang by them is simply very very nice. Trust me, I wish I could show you the whole moment of the show they performed, but I can’t. So either buy the tickets and go watch it or settle for the ones on YouTube. =P But if you’re interested to buy some tickets; browse here.

If you did a quick YouTube Google (Video) on it, it’s a very very well known Musical piece. Do check out below for more info:

“As Long as You’re Mine” is a musical number from the hit Broadway musical Wicked. It is a duet sung between Elphaba (the Wicked Witch of the West) and her love interest, Fiyero. It was originally sung by Idina Menzel and Norbert Leo Butz, who played Elphaba and Fiyero in the original Broadway cast. Menzel would later on win the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical.

The featured track below is a scene from Adam Lambert’s performance and some others (the closest I can find on YouTube).
If you’re looking for the most original scene, look for the last one of Idina Menzel and Norbert Leo Butz.

FIYERO:
Maybe I’m brainless
Maybe I’m wise
But you’ve got me seeing
Through different eyes
Somehow I’ve fallen
Under your spell
And somehow I’m feeling
It’s “up” that I fell

BOTH:
Every moment
As long as you’re mine
I’ll wake up my body
And make up for lost time

FIYERO:
Say there’s no future
For us as a pair

BOTH:
And though I may know
I don’t care!
Just for this moment
As long as you’re mine
Come be how you want to
And see how bright we shine
Borrow the moonlight
Until it is through
And know I’ll be here holding you
As long as you’re mine

ELPHABA:
Kiss me too fiercely
Hold me too tight
I need help believing
You’re with me tonight
My wildest dreamings
Could not foresee
Lying beside you
With you wanting me
And just for this moment
As long as you’re mine
I’ve lost all resistance
And crossed some borderline
And if it turns out
It’s over too fast
I’ll make ev’ry last moment last
As long as you’re mine

FIYERO:
Maybe I’m brainless
Maybe I’m wise
But you’ve got me seeing
Through different eyes
Somehow I’ve fallen
Under your spell
And somehow I’m feeling
It’s “up” that I fell

BOTH:
Every moment
As long as you’re mine
I’ll wake up my body
And make up for lost time

FIYERO:
Say there’s no future
For us as a pair

BOTH:
And though I may know
I don’t care!
Just for this moment
As long as you’re mine
Come be how you want to
And see how bright we shine
Borrow the moonlight
Until it is through
And know I’ll be here holding you
As long as you’re mine

FIYERO:
(spoken) What is it?

ELPHABA:
(spoken) It’s just – for the first time, I feel – (whispers) wicked!

Idina Menzel – I Stand

Posted in Lyrics, Music Video, Personal Post, Song Comment tagged at 1:01 pm by LynxLee

I’m going through Job Interviews to find a good career.
The past few interviews I’ve attended opened up my eyes to what I really want in my future career.
This song helps to lift up my spirits. I started surfing MP3.com and I found a free preview of her album.
I love this song the most and I think many can relate. Time to stand up for myself. Thank you mom and dad.

DanL

‘Cause I stand for the power to change,
I live for the perfect day.
I love till it hurts like crazy,
I hope for a hero to save me.
I stand for the strange and lonely,
I believe there’s a better place.
I don’t know if the sky is heaven,
But I pray anyway.

When you ask me, who I am…
What is my vision? And do I have a plan?
Where is my strength? Have I nothing to say?
I hear the words in my head, but I push them away.

‘Cause I stand for the power to change,
I live for the perfect day.
I love till it hurts like crazy,
I hope for a hero to save me.
I stand for the strange and lonely,
I believe there’s a better place.
I don’t know if the sky is heaven,
But I pray anyway.

And I don’t know
What tomorrow brings
The road less traveled
will it set us free?
Cause we are taking it slow,
these tiny legacies.
I don’t try and change the world;
But what will you make of me?

‘Cause I stand for the power to change,
I live for the perfect day.
I love till it hurts like crazy,

I hope for a hero to save me.
I stand for the strange and lonely,
I believe there’s a better place.
I don’t know if the sky is heaven,
But I pray anyway.

With the slightest of breezes
We fall just like leaves
As the rain washes us from the ground
We forget who we are
We can‘t see in the dark
And we quickly get lost in the crowd

‘Cause I stand for the power to change,
I live for the perfect day.
I love till it hurts like crazy,
I hope for a hero to save me.
‘Cause I stand for the power to change,
I live for the perfect day.
I love till it hurts like crazy,
I hope for a hero to save me.
I stand for the strange and lonely,
I believe there’s a better place.
I don’t know if the sky is heaven,
But I pray anyway.
