A Fine Frenzy – Almost Lover

I personally never felt like how this song describes it before. I never got to a stage where I’m almost a lover with that person and it didn’t work out. Perhaps it’s the way I think; often times it either works, or it just doesn’t. Hmm, maybe I don’t notice it but I’ve probably been through this.. Just that, I guess I give up fast and move on fast. Before this, I mess it up and stayed in the “suffering zone”. Man, things certainly changed over the years.

When I heard this song; it took me awhile to let it seep into me. Closing my eyes helps. Honestly a very touching song. Having that sadness all around. It just reminds me of James Blunt’s GoodBye My Lover (I could’ve sworn I posted this song.. must’ve removed it when I related it to my previous relationships). Well, except that this song is the pre-relationship part of it.

I simply like these parts below, as it describes how the whole emotion in the painting of words. The whole feel of “almost” just gets me. I don’t really know it, but I have a big feeling that I soon might be experiencing this.

Just feels like what I wrote before.. Time passes by so fast.. If we don’t hold on to something, we might just be swept away. That’s just my fear. Perhaps if I don’t do something now, it might be too late? And there’s never a right time. (don’t you notice this?)

Anyway, I’m kinda distracted (love?) by someone these days. Perhaps it’s just timing too. It’s always best to slow down and enjoy the scenery. Anything’s possible.

Gotta miss the good times.. even if it’s a few days. Missing everything.. even an almost lover like you. Sweet dreams.

Your fingertips across my skin
The palm trees swaying in the wind
Images

We walked along a crowded street
You took my hand and danced with me
Images

And when you left you kissed my lips
You told me you’d never ever forget these images, no

I never want to see you unhappy
I thought you’d want the same for me

Your fingertips across my skin
The palm trees swaying in the wind
Images

You sang me Spanish lullabies
The sweetest sadness in your eyes
Clever trick

I never want to see you unhappy
I thought you’d want the same for me

Goodbye, my almost lover
Goodbye, my hopeless dream
I’m trying not to think about you
Can’t you just let me be?
So long, my luckless romance
My back is turned on you
I should’ve known you’d bring me heartache
Almost lovers always do

We walked along a crowded street
You took my hand and danced with me
Images

And when you left you kissed my lips
You told me you’d never ever forget these images, no

I never want to see you unhappy
I thought you’d want the same for me

Goodbye, my almost lover
Goodbye, my hopeless dream
I’m trying not to think about you
Can’t you just let me be?
So long, my luckless romance
My back is turned on you
I should’ve known you’d bring me heartache
Almost lovers always do

I cannot go to the ocean
I cannot drive the streets at night
I cannot wake up in the morning
Without you on my mind
So you’re gone and I’m haunted
And I bet you are just fine
Did I make it that easy
To walk right in and out of my life?

Goodbye, my almost lover
Goodbye, my hopeless dream
I’m trying not to think about you
Can’t you just let me be?
So long, my luckless romance
My back is turned on you
I should’ve known you’d bring me heartache
Almost lovers always do

  1. this song is so sad that even if you are super happy..once you hear it, you’ll become sad and depressed.
